Setting up your practice & signing the BAA

Your organization

Signing up creates your organization (workspace). Settings holds the org profile, plan and billing, and the overage-handling preference; Locations and Members manage your footprint and team.

The BAA — required before real patient data

AffirmDME handles Protected Health Information, so HIPAA requires a Business Associate Agreement between your organization and AffirmDME before you process real cases. The BAA is built into onboarding: review and e-sign it in-app (via DocuSign) — an org admin signs once for the whole organization. Until it’s signed, keep to sandbox mode, which uses no PHI.

Recommended first-session order

1. Sign the BAA (admin, 2 minutes)
2. Add your location(s) with PTAN/NPI — see adding locations
3. Invite your team — see inviting your team
4. Run a sandbox case to learn the flow, then your first real one
